Shand, an assassin for a powerful baron in a medieval land.

The baron runs the barony and owns all the land, and rents it to farmers. He is petty but fair; the taxes are high, but the majority of it goes to the land and its people and not his pockets. Lord Vell Mundel, his name is. The barony is fairly large, big enough to have a rather grand castle, and two major cities that are hubs of trade, one of which is on a river.

Shand works for him, taking out the enemies that threaten the noble's family or reputation. Shand often works as an anti-assassin, also. Trusted and loyal, the assassin employs his many deadly skills: poison, bowmanship, swordplay, stealth, spying, etc. He is famous among those like him, though they know him only as "the Deathand" ("Death Hand"). When dealing with civilians he goes by the pseudonym "Sam Hill".

He has semi-long hair, a bit past his shoulders, that is raven-black (black with a blue tinge) which he ties back most of the time. His attire consists of a bandana for his lower face, form-fitting and slightly stretchable cloth covering everything but his arms and feet, padded leather shoes that won't squeak and have a knife in the toe, and gloves with a grip texture on the palms and fingers. On most jobs all he has is a sheath holding his short sword on his back and a small secure pouch with odds and ends inside. His face is a bit angular, sharp, as are his piercing black eyes. Altogether most people wouldn't say he is attractive, though he is handsome, because he is so serious and standoffish. There are no identifying marks on his face, though his upper left chest has a tattoo of a red snake wrapped around a black arm and biting the hand. The majority of his body has scars, however only a few are large enough to be noticeable.

Justan, the servant, or self-acclaimed slave, of the "master" of a realm called Mlandria (I think that's the name).

He acts like Dain's right-hand man, and his "Voice." The job is a serious burden, but he finds joy in serving his Master. He has no eyes and wears a blindfold to cover the fact. Short blonde hair with long bangs thickly over his eyes and slightly tanned skin coupled with a short stature makes him look younger than he is.
