Favorite topic everrrr.

Response to FB:

I don't really know what they were thinking when it came to CAS. I guess it works for some people (I know Jynxy prefers it) but I used to love sitting around in The Sims 2 and making people (I love making characters in games if you never noticed Rolling Eyes ). Sims 3, I try to get through it as fast as possible...

Lol, yea, that's what I mean by they're idiots, generally people don't smustle to death. But I like the seamless neighborhoods a lot where I can follow my Sim and they don't just randomly vanish into nothingness for hours. And I do especially love how jobs work now too. Of course I got a cheat to do away with it in 2 but they got rid of making friends and made it so if you did, you could get promoted or you could have your Sims sleep through work. And I did like the moodlets, that was still pretty true of the Sims 2. Except it came to my knowledge that memories no longer exist. I didn't even notice it wasn't there and I think it seems logical to...have memories.

And there was other stuff like the car deal where they apparently can't pull their car into the parking lot...? AND OMG, when I went away from my family, the cars disappeared! They weren't in their inventory or driveway so they just like lost them O_O

Finally, to balance out this post, likes: I liked the favorite food, color, and music thing except they had no music to choose from. I wish they'd had both the zodiac personality AND the choice of traits... etc, etc XD

Whooo!

Yeah I did like the seamless neighborhood where I could stalk my sim without load times. They still disappeared into the job building tho, and you couldn't go in. One of my favorite things is going downtown or to a store and having my sims do things... And in 3, if you go out, you disappear into the building and wait for them to do whatever. I hated that! What's the fun of going out?!

And yes you do like making characters lol. I do too, sometimes I end up hardly playing them at all, lol, but at least then I have some pretty characters to interact with. I'm sure downloads probably made the Sim creation a bit better for 3? Cuz when TS2 first came out they were ugly, ya know? And then people like Enalya and others started making really nice skins, eyes, clothes, etc. Even so, I can't imagine them making much headway on the problem...

Which reminds me, do you have any downloads from Daum for TS2? I dl'd them somehow, I don't remember how, but they don't work (apparently I need a mesh). But the site is in Korean, making me wonder how I even got it in the first place. Their clothes are super awesome for guys, from what I know, so I'm bummed out. (I used Google translate on the website and still didn't know what was going on lol)

I actually really wonder what people think of TS3. Especially people who created stuff for TS2. But you have to own the game in order to register for the website, and so there aren't any people who are complaining on there from what I saw. I wanted to join so I could be like "dude you guys wrecked it!"

Well, the thing with that is EA is a business...even in the base game of The Sims 2, you could really only buy like...groceries. And then you could just order those on the telephone so that was pretty useless at the beginning too. Of course, they added Nightlife and OFB and that's when even going out made any sense. I got the expansion that Jynxy gave me to work for a few minutes and they DID add stores that you can interact with (you can make fortune cookies and order egg rolls, lol) so that's just the usual "we'll keep you buying expansions so you can spend money on stuff that should be there in general, rawr!".

Yea, that's why I'm not QUITE ready to give up on 3's CAS yet. I look back on my old Sims diaries from time to time when we first made ourselves and holy CRAP, it was ugly. I mean, God, that seemed really hopeless then too. If you look back in the archives of the downloadable skins that first came out? They were horrible. But yea, it may take a while...http://svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/ts3/raonsims/male/hair01.jpg These don't look particularly bad except the hair is a little strange (TS3)...

Does sound familiar, actually. I'll check it out to see. But yea, I have trouble with downloads from certain Asian sites. Like dedital sheep (sp?) had these really cute hats and only one of them worked and I couldn't manage to make any of it work...

I have read a lot of mixed opinions and "backpeddlers" on Mod the Sims and other sites (check out backalleysims, btw, I think you'd like it...). But I think a lot of people don't like it while a lot of people do. I really want it to be better though so I hope that it's just at "base game" level now because The Sims 2 had all sorts of issues originally then developed into a really awesome game...

I want to know how that person got their sim to look like that, that isn't bad.

Hm true I do tend to forget about how it is when the games first come out. But still, I don't think I'll be playing 3... See I remember TS2 being a big improvement over 1, mainly with it being more 3d and less glitchy. And they added genetics, etc. TS3 really doesn't add anything besides customized coloring of clothes and furniture. And I just can't stand only playing one family or having dozens of neighborhoods. It just isn't going to work for me. Sad

TS3, in my mind, should have been built on 2, where they put in less loading times and the seamless neighborhood, making it so that you could easily switch families. Why can't they have families "paused" but able to "leave the house" just like 2 & 1? If you aren't focused on them, your game continues where it left off, but if you are playing someone else, the sim can be seen around. Would that really be so complicated?

I was playing with it earlier myself, if you add some extra "sliders", it kind of helps... At the same time, things like the jaw stay pretty square which I guess is supposed to be the case for most guys...

I guess I can swing for both sides. I think the customizing thing was a nice bonus but even that seemed unnecessary, I suppose. I can tell that they were aiming to actually make the Sims have in a way more personality. Like I mentioned, I liked the idea of having interests or traits. In that way, the TS2 was pretty black and white, it was just "you're a grumpy sim or you're a nice sim" or "you're fun or you're serious". (Or with the "goals", you're just a Romance sim or a Fortune sim. So I guess a majority of people are flat out whores or flat out moneygrubbers. What about the moneygrubbing whores?) Now, not to say that shouldn't have been included in TS3 as that's just a basis for personality, I just noticed that my sims all worked out the same every time unless I was aiming to make a villainous Sim. It wasn't like I could set my Sim to be a klepto or actually just flat out "evil".

It was little things in The Sims 3 like them being happy to eat their favorite food. Or you know, the Sim actually going to the hospital when their baby is born instead of standing wherever they happen to be at that moment and shrieking. And that your significant other actually goes with you too. So in other words, in realistic portrayal, I think The Sims 3 did better. Including the whole not dancing to stench and then dying because they need a shower.

However, gameplay, I do agree with you. I hate being tied to one family and then I hate how excessive they made it to change to another family. What was so wrong with just clicking on a house? >.<Now>.> I still see myself playing The Sims 2 once I get everything set back up but I tried the Sims 3 again and I can see playing that too. I'll keep playing and trying to update with expansions and tell you if they fix all the weird stuff. I think like every Sims games, it has potential or they wouldn't keep trying.
