So, what should this world be called? What places does it have in it? What kind of environment is there in the various places (political, social, etc.)?

This will allow us to establish more solid writing and make it more interesting. Also, so other players won't be lost in a world their character should know but doesn't because it is a unique creation.

So toss in your ideas.

I'm not sure about any names, but I've got a basic plan for planning the setting:P

Different genres I've seen for roleplaying are as varied as books. Real life is Earth in the present day, or perhaps a slightly earlier one. Historical is Earth but in centuries past. Futuristic can be Earth in the future or humans in space. Fantasy is a whole new world that resembles how Earth functions, but has magic and often mimicks the medieval era of European Earth.

I think it would be most fun to play in varying worlds than these. Perhaps a fantasy world where everyone has magic (and therefore don't need other weapons, so it varies from a traditional fantasy setting). Or perhaps a "horror" based world where monsters roam and there few if any normal people (could make for some interesting confrontations!). Or maybe a world of both technology and magic (though that's an escalating cliche). Maybe even a blend (perhaps depending on location on our roleplay world)!

What do you think?

I think a desert might be a fun location ^^ Though there isn't a whole lot to do in a desert, it would make an interesting location for a city. I have always wanted to do a horror, but we've tried that before and it's like impossible to make anything scary in an RP. You could try it if you had one main creature and had someone roleplay that exclusively. Then you can have the other people roleplaying as the victems and not know what's going to happen already.

I like when magic is a rare thing. Whenever we have magic, it seems that all of the people roleplaying have magic, thus kind of destroying the idea that it really is rare. When everyone has magic, it's like... what's the point of having magic? I'd be willing to not have powers if it means making the story better.

I like future because I like bleak settings, and it seems the future always looks bleak to me. I mean, I tried it with my robot boy thing, but of course... I can't write stories.

I made a random Mediterranean pirate outfit on gaia and had the urge to use that in an RP, but I'm sure the urge will pass XD

Yeah, let's do a desert! Desert city! What should it's name be? I would assume they'd have some pretty badass monsters out in the desert ... I'm already thinking up stories! (@_@)

I thought it might be cool to let everything and it's mother have magic, but it would get really technical about the magic. We'd have to make up a whole system for interpreting it or something. So maybe not.

Let's have a medieval game without magic. In the desert.

It's pretty bleak in the desert.

And I really hope that urge does pass. Lol.

I tried daydreaming for half a second on the subject and the only thing that popped in my head so far was a wolf. Not like a werewolf, but just a wolf. Might be too simple, though. We can't have typical monsters like vampires or werewolves or anything. Um... I did have a zombie dream that took place in a desert city the other night! Part of the reason why it would be hard to make a scary RP is because you can't kill someone... so there is no fear of death. One thing we could do, I guess, is I'd play as the monster, and you and andy each make three characters. That way I can kill off two characters each. It'd have to be my choice of whom I kill, so it can at least be a little surprising and you guys can't just focus all your attention on the one you know will survive.

I don't mind if my characters die. (These are just stories, and we can have them in other ones!) So we could still do a horror story. We'll see how it works out. Are you going to try to get Andy on this site again? That'd be great!

obviously the most important thing about doing this is actually getting people to like... do it. And I realized how much spare time we actually have, so no one has any excuses for not posting. I think doing something creative will help me feel less crazy.

What kind of monster can we do? I just keep thinking wolf over and over. I can't come up with any other ideas XD

Well the classic hideous monster... Or more of a human-like monster like...werewolf or vampire. I'm brain-dead right now and have been for a few days, so yeah no idea. I haven't felt like writing either (scary!).
